Frequently Asked Questions

Questions raised before engagement

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. The firm holds an Ontario plumbing contractor licence and carries $5,000,000 in commercial general liability coverage. Certificates of insurance and WSIB clearance certificates are provided on request, and we encourage clients to ask for them from any trade before work begins.

Do you charge for a quotation?

No charge applies to a quotation prepared during a scheduled appointment for work we expect to exceed four hours. Where a client requests attendance solely to diagnose a fault, the standard service call of $95 applies and is credited in full against the invoice should the work proceed.

What warranty applies to your work?

Two years on labour performed by our tradespeople, and the manufacturer's warranty on parts and appliances, which we register on the client's behalf at the time of installation. Warranty terms are printed on every invoice rather than referenced elsewhere.

How quickly can you attend an emergency?

Within two hours in our standard service area during business hours, and within four hours outside it. Overnight and weekend emergency attendance is available to maintenance contract clients as a matter of course, and to other clients subject to crew availability.

Do you obtain permits?

Yes, where the work requires one. The permit is drawn in the firm's name, the inspection is arranged by us, and the permit number is recorded on the final invoice. We will not undertake permitted work without a permit at a client's request.

What are your payment terms?

Net thirty days for account clients and commercial contracts. Residential work is payable on completion. We accept electronic transfer, cheque and major credit cards. A deposit of twenty-five per cent is required on supply-and-install work exceeding $3,000.

Do you service properties outside Ottawa?

We serve Ottawa, Kanata, Stittsville, Richmond, Carp and Dunrobin as a matter of course. Work beyond that boundary is undertaken by arrangement, with travel charged at a stated rate disclosed before the appointment is confirmed.

Will the same tradesperson attend each visit?

On maintenance contracts and multi-visit projects, yes, so far as scheduling permits. Continuity is a stated objective and we regard it as part of the service rather than a courtesy.
